Kalmarspexarna are proud to present the first ever student theatre play (or “spex”) written and performed for an English speaking audience: “Vlad Dracula - Birth of a Legend” (or ”Another Bloody Spex”)!
In the 15th century the land of Wallachia is besieged by the Ottomans. It falls to Vlad Tepes II Dracul to defend the land and uphold its sacred traditions. However, Vlad knows his time is running out, and soon his son will have take his place as the lord of Wallachia. Only one problem; his son, Vlad Tepes III, is a coward who faints at the mere sight of blood and has grand fantasies of becoming a cape wearing vigilante who stalks the night and is associated with swarms of bats. A “bat man” if you will. To help his son become a proper ruler and help him awaken the dark powers within him, Vald the elder summons his trusted Syndicate, a group of the fiercest nightwalkers and blood lovers the world has ever seen to teach his son the ways of the vampire. Meanwhile, a confused and lost immortal Scotsman from the Highlands approaches the castle, and two devious vampire hunters infiltrate its halls… how will young Vlad overcome his fear of blood and his lack of female company? And will he be able to take his place in history as the dark lord himself, count Dracula? Come and witness this riveting tale filled with drama, romance, twists and untactful jokes!

When: Wednesday May 16 - 18:00 - Premiere and pub spex! Food and alcohol will be served before and after the show, as well as during the pause between acts! The doors will open at 18:00, the show will start at 20:00 and the doors will be closed at 01:00. This show is for students only, so atudent ID and photo ID are required for admittance.
